Popis
The path into the Thaya Valley is a magical nature experience. From the Kollmitz ruins, the hiking trail leads along the Thaya through rustic forests and past imposing cliffs. Between Uhufelsen and Mausoleum lie the unique Thaya slopes - a valuable natural area of oaks, hornbeams, lime trees, copper beeches and pines. The natural forests between Kollmitz and Eibenstein are among the most species-rich in Lower Austria. Rare mixed slope forests and dry grasslands grow on the steep slopes of the Kollmitzgraben, providing a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. EU-protected fish species such as the brook lamprey, otters and the rare great grey shrike find ideal conditions here in the midst of forest islands and copses.
If you want to go on a journey of discovery, you can experience the harmonious interplay of wild nature and tranquil landscape along the Historikersteig trail. The natural forest near Drosendorf is particularly impressive: the "Studentensteig" leads through fairy-tale hillside forests with old lime trees, home to mosses, fungi, insects, woodpeckers and owls. The view of the calmly flowing Thaya opens up again and again.
The Thayatalweg 630 invites you on an unforgettable hike through one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Austria. Discover pristine forests, impressive cliffs and the unique natural paradise of the Thaya Valley, a place where tranquillity, diversity and nature merge in perfect harmony.
