Laxenburg: time out on imperial paths
Empress Maria Theresa in particular loved the magnificent palace complex. Her children and other Habsburgs also used the palace as a summer residence. Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Sisi even spent their honeymoon in Laxenburg. Two of their children were born here. Today, Laxenburg Palace Park, the Old Palace and Franzensburg Castle - built on an island - stand out as important monuments to historical garden art.
