St. Peter/Au
From the north, where the dark granite of the Waldviertel can be glimpsed, the Danube occasionally sends its mists over. From the south, the hammers of the black counts echo from the valleys of the Alpine foothills. From the east, very close by, the spiritual power of the Four-Caned God, Seitenstetten Abbey, radiates. To the west, the road points the way into the distance.
Right here, in the middle of the Mostviertel region, lies a village with a church and castle, market square and town houses, housing estates and Vierkanter, which are strung, as it were, on a rosary of fruit trees around the center. A jewel, framed in spring by the white of tree blossoms, the yellow of dandelions and the purple of meadowfoam, and in fall by the scent of ripe fruit. Woven into the landscape, it does not impose itself and yet is impossible to overlook: St. Peter in der Au.
