Tulln an der Donau

The district capital of Tulln is both a harmonious small town with a high quality of life and leisure activities and a hub for the entire region. The garden city of Tulln is particularly well known for its inviting, magnificently blooming green and leisure spaces, but also for its unique location on the Danube and the diverse art and cultural offerings.

Experiences in the garden and art city
You can immerse yourself in Tulln's green oases at the GARTEN TULLN, Europe's first ecological garden show, which presents over 65 show gardens and offers garden lovers all kinds of inspiration. Winding paths through the water park - whether on foot, by bike, canoe or pedal boat - lead directly from GARTEN TULLN to the city center and the blossoming Danube promenade in just a few minutes. The promenade is designed as an attractive leisure area with picnic meadows. The popular and lively Donaulände is maintained by the Tulln city gardeners - just like all other green spaces in Tulln - in a purely ecological manner.

Experience culture, culinary delights & shopping pleasures
A tip for balmy summer nights are concerts in the unique ambience of the Donaubühne directly on the great river. Friends of art and culture are particularly recommended to visit the wide range of attractions in the garden city surrounding its most famous son Egon Schiele: In addition to the birthplace, guests can visit the modern Egon Schiele Museum as well as a themed trail through the entire town. The many restaurants with their idyllic pavement cafés, which exude an almost Mediterranean flair, offer refreshments. Tulln's vibrant city center offers plenty of small gifts for yourself and others, where you can stroll to your heart's content - both outdoors and sheltered from the wind and weather: the "Rosenarcade" shopping center is located directly on the main square and invites you to enjoy extensive shopping with its variety of stores.

A city with history
Tulln's history goes back a long way: during the Roman Empire, Tulln served as the equestrian fort "Comagena" to secure the Noric Limes directly on the Danube. Finds from the founding period of Tulln can be admired in the Roman Museum. The Romanesque charnel house (around 1240), the Minorite church (1732-39), the town tower (16th century), numerous Gothic and Baroque buildings and many other sights make Tulln a town full of art and cultural treasures.
