Popis

The ascent from St. Corona to the Franz-Kaupe House (formerly Herrgottschnitzer Hut) offers lots of nature, variety, and dining options. You start at Gasthof Orthof. It goes gently uphill through forests and over alpine meadows, and in between you meet grazing cows. Some beautiful viewpoints with views of the Schneeberg and the surroundings also await hikers. The path to the Franz-Kaupe House also crosses the "Family Adventure Trail at Kampstein", where there are various play stations for children. At 1318 meters above sea level, you reach the Franz-Kaupe House. After the death of the longtime ÖTV chairman Franz Kaupe, the Herrgottschnitzer Hut was renamed after him due to his merits. The hut serves delicious pastries and hosts huskies belonging to the hut owner. In addition, numerous hiking trails lead away from the Franz-Kaupe House, such as the hike to the Kampstein summit at 1467m.

Alternative ascent options lead from St. Peter near the fire station up the slope via the green-yellow marking or via the forest road between St. Peter and Unternberg.

From Vienna: Take the South Motorway A2 to exit 69 Edlitz/Aspang. Continue on B54 via Kirchberg am Wechsel to St. Corona am Wechsel.

From Graz: Take the South Motorway A2 to exit 81 Aspang Markt. Continue on B54 via Aspang Markt and Unternberg to St. Corona am Wechsel.

From Bruck/Mur: Take the S6 Semmering expressway to exit Gloggnitz. Continue via Kirchberg am Wechsel to St. Corona am Wechsel.

Take the regional train from Wr. Neustadt main station (direction Aspang-Markt) to the final stop, Aspang station. From there, take bus line 1762 of Retter Linien (direction Kirchberg/Wechsel Hotel Post) to the stop: St. Corona/Wechsel Church.
