Krátký popis

The first stage of the alpannonia long-distance hiking trail leads from the Semmering pass height to the Feistritzsattel, the meeting point with the path of stage 1a.

Popis

The official start of the alpannonia® hiking trail is at the valley station Hirschenkogel. From the mountain station Hirschenkogel, the path leads to the Sonnwendstein with its magnificent views over the Styrian - Lower Austrian Kalkalpen. From the Sonnwendstein, you then hike via the Arzkogel to the wine route towards Feistritzsattel. Along the further route (almost exclusively in the forest with some beautiful views), there is also some information about the Gebirgsjäger memorial trail. At the Feistritzsattel you meet the main path coming from Fischbach.

There are no accommodation facilities directly at Feistritzsattel. The nearest village is Trattenbach. Walking time approx. 45 min.

Shuttle service from Feistritzsattel to Trattenbach is offered by the taxi company Karl Mayrhofer (Tel. 0664/1512750)

WARNING: there is no mobile reception at Feistritzsattel, it is best to reserve the shuttle at the start of the stage!

Alternative route: after the Alpkogel, turn onto the regional route to Trattenbach. The next day you can take the shuttle back to Feistritzsattel or Pfaffensattel.

Make sure when choosing the route that it matches your mountain experience and fitness. Inform yourself in advance about the weather forecast. Weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Therefore, always set off properly equipped (e.g. rain protection). 

Check whether the huts and snack stations you want to visit on the way are open. Inform someone about the chosen route and your planned return before you set off.
