A route to marvel at – the Kremstal Cycle Path continually amazes with its diversity in terms of flora, fauna, and atmosphere.
From urban Krems through the multifaceted Kremstal to the idyllic plateau in Kottes leads the Kremstal Cycle Path – and here’s a little secret: this route offers pure variety! Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this cycling route features steep river valleys and rugged rocky areas with pioneer turf as well as extensive alder, ash, and willow floodplains. But also some highlights and a detour or two make the Kremstal Cycle Path worthwhile. Already at Maigen, the historic Hartenstein Castle towers and invites for a hike. Near Voitsau lies the abandoned Königsmühle with a lordly sawmill, impressing with its beautifully restored accompanying residential building. Upon reaching the plateau in Kottes, a detour up to the Waldviertel Highland Trail is recommended, and on the return trip, the local history museum in Scheutz provides cultural variety. The route finally ends where it began: in the heart of Krems.
From January to June 2024, due to the construction of flood protection along the Krems River, the bridge at the northern extension of the Seilerweg will be rebuilt. During this time, the Kremstal Cycle Path will be redirected via Adolf-Schmittgasse and Rehberger Hauptstraße. A local detour for cyclists is set up.
