Panorama route Kirchberg-Otterthal

The route starts at the hiking start point Kirchberg am Wechsel. From there continue towards the sports store and immediately afterward follow the creek to a small footbridge, which we cross, then walk towards Hofwaldteich. Here a narrow path leads us into the forest; shortly after we reach the asphalt road to the "Kreuzbauern".

We follow this to the next sharp right curve, then a yellow sign points us to the left, where we walk uphill relatively steeply along the edge of the field. Finally, we reach a wayside shrine with a bench, where we take a well-deserved break and enjoy the view of Kirchberg with its two churches. Now we follow a section of the asphalt road to the "Kreuzbauern" again, then enter the forest on a forest road. Soon we reach a fork in the path. The left leads to Steyersberger Schwaig, the far right back into the valley. We choose the middle path marked with yellow. On this somewhat overgrown forest road, we then hike quite comfortably for a long time. Finally, we come out of the forest and cross a natural dam called the "Holzgasse," which is already in the Alpltal. Here a bench invites us to rest again. In addition, we have the Otter very prominently in front of us and beautiful views of the Rax.

FIRST DESCENT

We follow the left forest path, at first only slightly, then increasingly steeply downhill. Attention: In principle, the path is well marked, but after about two-thirds of the way, watch out for a narrow trail that branches off to the left from the wider forest road between the trees. Finally, we reach a farm with alpacas before crossing the main road. Now it is steeply uphill again, first a short piece of asphalt on the left, then into a light forest on a tractor path that leads us to an asphalt dead-end road. Here we turn left, walk past a homestead until a yellow sign on the right shows the direction to Ramssattel. Stamina is required one more time until we finally reach the asphalt road, where we continue to hike to Ramswirt. Here you could stop for refreshment and strengthening. Now we have almost made it, and a comfortable descent awaits us. Immediately after Ramswirt on the way to Kirchberg, a steep forest trail branches off on the left, which we follow. This leads us through the forest to the first hairpin bend of Ramsstraße. Now we follow the road on the meadow to the Rams crossing, where the cemetery is located. We keep right along the cemetery wall, then turn left until we reach the promenade, which we follow to the left to our starting point at Postbacherl.
