Popis
The "Path of the Brick Barons" is a 20 km long, varied, and easy-to-ride cycling route. The start is directly on the Thermenradweg at Vösendorf Castle, from where you head south via a new bike connection to Hennersdorf, passing Wienerberger Österreich, the new train station, the oldest church in the region, and the Petersbach. A wildlife enclosure and an attractive cultural trail complete the first stage.
The next stop is the AG34-HAUS in Leopoldsdorf. In the former brickworker's residence, from April 26 to November 10 on weekends, the exhibition "Leopoldsdorf and the Wienerberger history(ies) of the Brick Barons and Brick Bohemians" is set up. Installations at AG34-HAUS and along the former Leopoldsdorf canal route recall the Wiener Neustadt canal. Other highlights can be found in Achau at the so-called Kaiserablässe, an impressive hydraulic structure at the confluence of the Schwechat, Triesting, Mödlingbach, and Krottenbach – here flows today the water of the Wiener Neustadt Canal.
In Biedermannsdorf, you reach the end of the water-carrying canal at a waterfall, where there is a nice place to rest. Along the Aspang railway, you continue to Laxenburg. The town center and especially the castle park with its romantic pond landscape and the historic Franzensburg are worth a visit. Back on the Thermenradweg, you cycle via Biedermannsdorf to Vösendorf, back to Vienna, or southwards, continuing along the Thermenradweg following the Wiener Neustadt Canal.
