A snowshoeing route with views of the Raxalpe and the Bucklige Welt.
This circular route leads from the small village of Prigglitz up to Gahns, a foothill of the Schneeberg. The hike first goes to the Gahnshauswiese, where you are rewarded with a magnificent view of the Raxalpe in good weather. It continues to the Tobelwiese and to the Rote Wand. At the viewpoint, directly at the cliffs of the Rote Wand, there is a summit register. The descent goes past the Pottschacherhütte (usually still open in December). Return to Prigglitz either through the Langtal or via Gasteil, where you have the opportunity to admire artworks at Gut Gasteil.

From the bus stop in the village, we walk briefly on the street towards "Auf der Wiese" to then reach the steep access road to Sonnberg. After that, we follow a forest road, then the hiking trail, which leads over the Gahnshauswiese (923 m) via the Tobelwiese (1,155 m) and eastwards to the Rote Wand. Now follow the path east until you leave the Gahns plateau again and begin the descent to the Pottschacherhütte (919 m). From the hut, there are two descent options: one to Gasteil and from there on the street to Prigglitz, the other via the Langtal directly back to the starting point in Prigglitz.
Variant: A slightly shorter ascent is from the bus stop in the district "Auf der Wiese".
Take the A2 and S6 to the Gloggnitz exit. Drive towards Gloggnitz on the Höllentalstraße B27. Turn right onto Triester Bundesstraße/B17. About 1.5 km further on B17. Turn left onto Wiener Straße. In the roundabout take the first exit (Franz Dittelbach-Straße). Turn right onto Bahnhof/Bahnhofstraße. Continue over Bahnhofstraße onto Stuppacher Straße, Stuppachgrabenstraße, and Stuppachgraben. Keep right and stay on Stuppachgraben. Continue to Prigglitz. Turn left to the municipal office.
ParkováníParking available at the elementary school near the municipal office.
From Wiener Neustadt main station, take the regional train (towards Payerbach-Reichenau) to the Gloggnitz stop. Continue with the bus line 344 to the Prigglitz Ort stop.

Snowshoes, backpack with provisions, winter-capable hiking poles, light, mobile phone, lighter, maps
For minor equipment mishaps, often a cable tie or a piece of wire is enough for makeshift repair.
It is recommended to always carry basic avalanche gear in the mountains.
Particularly in winter, special caution applies when moving in the mountains. Consider in your tour planning that your timing can be disrupted by a small thing, especially in winter. A weather change or a technical defect in the snowshoes can noticeably hinder progress. Also consider that in winter it can get dark as early as 4:00 pm and spending a night outdoors in winter can quickly become life-threatening.
Please also consider that markings can be invisible under snow in winter and therefore prepare well for your tour!
