The wine experience route Pulkautal impresses by the fact that every place here has at least one wine cellar lane, even the longest in the world can be admired in Hadres. Flanked by vineyards and feel-good spots, the route runs through beautiful wine-growing towns along the Pulkau.
The wine experience route Pulkautal runs mostly along the watercourse of the same name, near the border with the Czech Republic and starts or ends in the municipality of Pernersdorf. Fields, fertile vineyards, and whitewashed wine cellar lanes are characteristic of this valley. Not least because it has the highest density of wine cellar lanes in the western Wine Quarter. In addition to the noteworthy wine cellar lane of Hadres – the longest continuously built wine cellar lane in the world – or the “Zipf” wine cellar lane in Mailberg – the only listed wine cellar lane in Lower Austria – the Malteser Castle Mailberg and Seefeld Castle can also be admired on this route. Although the Wine Quarter is mainly associated with white wine, there are also some small “red wine islands” in the Pulkautal, where – thanks to special climatic conditions – a very special red wine thrives. Fans of Alfred Komarek’s Polt novels or their film adaptations will also enjoy this. Because on the wine experience route Pulkautal, the original filming locations of the TV crime series can be visited.
