Donaustation Melk 11

The Melk 11 boat landing stage is very centrally located in the oxbow lake. From there you have a sensational view of Melk Abbey.

This Danube landing stage can be reached safely and easily on foot from the main road or from Melk town center.
The world-famous baroque Melk Abbey towers high above the Danube at the "Gateway to the Wachau". Melk has been the spiritual and cultural center of the region for more than 1000 years, first as a Babenberg castle and then from 1089 as a Benedictine monastery. To this day, the town has been able to preserve its old, cohesive townscape: romantic alleyways, Renaissance town houses, historic town towers and remains of the town wall. Culture is very important in Melk. Events such as the International Baroque Days with the Melk Whitsun Concerts and the Summer Theatre Festival are well known far beyond the Wachau region.
