Fam. Aschauer

The Aschauer family has been cultivating around 6.5 hectares of vineyards and around 180 apricot trees in Unterbergern on the south-eastern edge of the Wachau since 1898. The proven combination of traditional cultivation methods, modern knowledge and continuous further training forms the basis for sustainable management - certified by "Nachhaltig Austria", among others.

Viticulture & cellar technology

The winemaking process is carried out with great care: the grapes are processed on three levels in free fall and as gently as possible. Modern cellar technology is combined with many years of experience in order to bring grape quality into the bottle as naturally as possible.

Wine and apricot portfolio

As a member of Vinea Wachau, the winery produces quality wines of the classic Wachau levels Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd. The range includes an interesting selection:

Grüne Veltliner (including Donauleiten Steinfeder, Federspiel, Smaragd), Riesling (Raubern), Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gemischter Satz. special formats such as Zweigelt Barrique, Frizzante, Beerenauslese, pomace brandy, grape juices and apricot brandy.

Apricots are also among the most important products: The "Original Wachau apricot" is offered directly as fresh fruit as well as processed into jam, chutney and brandy.

Guided tours & tastings

A cellar tour is a special experience: visitors are given an insight into the processing of the grapes through to bottling, followed by a tasting directly on site in Lower Austria. The modern premises are also ideal for events, celebrations or wine tastings outside of the Heurigen dates.

Heurigen operation & infrastructure

Four times a year: then it's "Ausg'steckt is". The wine tavern is located in original, up to 350-year-old vaults with around 130 seats inside, with an additional 120 seats available in the idyllic inner courtyard - including a children's playground, e-bike charging stations, barrier-free or with a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
