The Fürstenberg family has been cultivating ponds around Weitra since 1606. The oldest facilities date back to the Middle Ages. Today, 13 ponds with a total area of 36 hectares are available for the extensive, organic production of carp and other edible fish. Work is carried out according to the guidelines of the "Waldviertler Karpfen" quality brand. In the small but fine farm store in Weitra, you can buy whole or ready-to-cook carp (e.g. horseshoes, carp sides cupped) every Friday from 09:00 to 11:00 all year round. We like our fish - you can see and taste it.
