The winery of Herzogenburg Abbey in Wielandsthal has a centuries-old tradition, which can still be breathed and sensed in the beautiful abbey wine cellar built by the famous baroque master builder Jakob Prandtauer around 1725-30. Since the takeover by manager and former finance minister Dr. Hans Jörg Schelling in 2009, the cellar technology has been modernized and the entire winery has been adapted to contemporary requirements. Today, Schelling's daughter Julia runs the business and cellar master Josef Baumgartner is responsible for a range of delicately fruity, animating wines with the typical minerality of the Traisental.
