Weingut Alois Zimmermann OG

The winery is located in the charming wine village of Tisza, north of the Danube, not far from the wine town of Krems. Working in the vineyard, accompanying the wine in the cellar until the work of a year matures into a tangible pleasure - this is a process that has always fascinated me.

Grüne Veltliner and Riesling are the two star grape varieties in the Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) - and also at my winery.

South-facing vineyards with long periods of sunshine allow the grapes to ripen perfectly, while cool winds from the Waldviertel preserve their fresh acid structure. My vineyards bear famous names such as Kremser Gebling, Kremser Sandgrube and Roßhimmel. They all differ in their special soil formations, which range from loess to stony loam-clay soils to primary rock. Each vineyard requires special attention when it comes to foliage work or nutrient supply. An effort that is worthwhile, as it allows me to ideally illustrate the versatility of Grüne Veltliner and Riesling.
