Aussichtsberg Burgsteinmauer
Vyhlídka
Popis
The Burgsteinmauer in St. Oswald in the southern Waldviertel is a sunny spot above the fog and a popular hiking destination for nature lovers. At 975 meters, the viewing platform offers an impressive view of the valley, in which the clouds look like little cotton balls. From here, the view extends across the southern Waldviertel, the Mühlviertel, the Alpine foothills and, on a clear day, as far as the Alps, from the Großer Priel in the Totes Gebirge to the Schneeberg and Dachstein. Since summer 2019, a magnificent summit cross made of larch wood has adorned the summit and visitors can immortalize themselves in the summit book.
The hike to the Burgsteinmauer is close to nature and suitable for all levels of difficulty. Below the granite rocks is a rustic deciduous and mixed forest with mighty beech, spruce and maple trees. Numerous rare plant species and the drumming of woodpeckers make the ascent particularly lively. Many paths lead to the Burgsteinmauer: from the short five-kilometre hiking trail 17 from St. Oswald to the 14-kilometre route 94 from Dorfstetten or longer long-distance hikes such as the Waldviertel long-distance hiking trail 606 and the Ysper-Weitental circular trail 22, where the Burgsteinmauer can be incorporated as a highlight.
Thanks to its easy accessibility, the Burgsteinmauer is ideal for family outings, club hikes or relaxed walks. If you want to experience the beauty of the Waldviertel, you will find peace, nature and spectacular views here, a real hiking destination for all seasons.
