Waldburganger Hütte
ChataPopis
Mountain huts are generally places of tranquillity, but the Waldburganger Hut on the Gahns, a foothill of the Schneeberg, built in 1929, is particularly idyllic and secluded - and has thus retained its untouristy, original spirit. The cosy wooden hut at the southern end of the Bodenwiese, a 97-hectare alpine meadow at 1,182 meters, is around 2 hours from Payerbach.
From here, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Wechsel and Semmering regions as well as the Rax and Schneeberg mountains.
Culinary tip: the traditional Schöberl - a treat just like in the old days.
