The Poppy Granite Bike Route is one of the oldest cycle paths in the Waldviertel and passes poppy fields, impressive granite formations as well as idyllic streams and ponds – a perfect combination of nature, exercise, and enjoyment!

The route was extended in 2025 and now also includes the picturesque municipalities of Lichtenau, Albrechtsberg, and Bad Traunstein. This offers even more scenic variety and cultural highlights. Numerous excursion destinations, regional cuisine, and genuine insider tips await along the way – ideal for an enjoyable day trip or even multiple days. Whether sporty or leisurely on a discovery tour: The Poppy Granite Bike Route is an experience for all the senses.

Example Vienna - Schönbach: A1 exit Melk - Danube bridge - Emmersdorf B216 towards Pöggstall - Würnsdorf - B36 towards Ottenschlag - turn left in Martinsberg onto L78 - Bad Traunstein to Schönbach.
