The hiking route starts in the small village of Raach am Hochgebirge. Via Schlagl and the Schanz chapel, the route leads to Maria Schutz, the well-known pilgrimage site. From here, the last ascent of the day leads to the Semmering.

From Raach am Hochgebirge, hike downhill towards Schlagl. Follow the road towards Schanz chapel. At the end of the road, a forest path leads upward to the Schanz chapel. From there, it goes downhill until you reach the Göstritz intermediate access of the Semmering base tunnel construction site. Follow the path uphill now to Maria Schutz.
The pilgrimage site Maria Schutz invites you to rest before continuing on to Semmering. Stroll through the village and take the forest path behind the fire station towards Semmering. You will pass the Ostermann cross and go through the Myrtengraben. At the end of the forest path, you will arrive at the Sporthotel at Semmering. Continue along the road to enter the town and reach accommodations and inns directly.
Příjezd
Coming from Vienna, take the A2 South Motorway to the Seebenstein junction, then the Semmering expressway S6 to the Gloggnitz exit. From here, follow the signs to Raach am Hochgebirge.
Parkování
Parking spaces are available in Raach am Hochgebirge.
Travel by train to Gloggnitz. From the station, buses run to Raach am Hochgebirge "town center" (line 367). The end point of the hike is the Semmering Pass, from where it is only a 20-minute walk to Semmering station. Alternatively, you can return to Gloggnitz by line bus 343 or take the RUFbus Semmering Rax to the station.
