The Schmidl bakery and confectionery is a traditional Wachau business and has been offering its guests the highest quality and honest craftsmanship in the heart of Dürnstein since 1780. The family business - the inventor of the famous "Wachauer Laberl" - has always produced hearty, freshly baked bread, crispy, fragrant pastries from carefully selected, high-quality, regional ingredients,freshly baked bread, crisp, fragrant pastries and the finest pastries, which are made without flavor enhancers or other artificial additives. All this guarantees high quality - which you can taste! All these delicacies are served in the adjoining café with terrace, a place where typical Austrian coffee house culture is cultivated.
If you want to be sure that you are buying an original Wachauer Laberl, you will find an "S" baked into the bottom of the Laberl. The bakery's range includes over 140 variations: freshly baked bread, fragrant pastries and tempting pastries and cakes.
