Dorfwirt Litschau

The Königsleitn Theater & Holiday Village has an excellent village innkeeper: Klaus Hölzl was born in the Waldviertel and is a passionate chef. Where it says Litschau on it, guests can be sure that Litschau is also in it! The young chef's claim: to use local ingredients of the highest quality - with a lot of love and a lot of Waldviertel. The carp comes directly from the Litschau castle fishery and the game from the Litschau castle forest and surrounding woods. Local (rare) potatoes, poppy seeds and ancient grains such as einkorn and emmer can also be found on the menu. And Klaus Hölzl proves it: Classic tavern cuisine can do more than just frittata soup and schnitzel. For starters, the team serves vegan potato hummus or smoked carp caviar with potato-crusted bread. The game ragout with Waldviertel dumplings and red cabbage with apples is a popular main course not only during game season. The Waldviertel specialties even have their own menu. For example, guests can choose between the 2erlei of Litschauer venison with corn semolina dumplings and the fried catfish fillet with rare potatoes and onion cream. For dessert, the crème brûlée of Waldviertel goat's cheese is a winner. Klaus Hölzl impressively manages the balancing act between modern gourmet cuisine and down-to-earth tavern classics.

A (culinary) institution

The Königsleitn theater and vacation village, under the direction of Zeno Stanek, is known for its wide range of music, art and education - such as the Schrammel.Klang.Festival, the HIN & WEG theater festival and the numerous workshops. The "Dorfwirt" is the heart of the complex and has been attracting guests from near and far since 2022, shining in new splendor following its renovation. What's special about it: two stages are integrated into the restaurant, which can be booked and performed on. The interior is stylish and cleverly designed. The Zirbenstube and actors' room exude a living room atmosphere. In summer, the shady terrace with 80 seats invites you to linger and enjoy.
