Popis
An important place for art lovers!
By opening the ALBERTINA Museum in Klosterneuburg, the ALBERTINA Museum is pursuing an important goal: to make a large part of the post-1945 collection accessible to the public. Art that is not currently on display in exhibitions at the ALBERTINA Museum or the ALBERTINA MODERN Museum or on loan is made accessible to the interested public in Klosterneuburg. The collection of contemporary art currently comprises around 65,000 works of art (paintings, drawings, prints, photography, sculptures, videos and installations).
Presentation focus on sculpture
For the first time, the main focus in one of the halls will be on sculptures: Sculptures by Franz West, Erwin Wurm, Jonathan Meese and Marc Qinn will be on display. On the second floor, in addition to sculptures, the ALBERTINA Museum's core competencies of drawing and watercolor will also be on display.
The revival of the new location in Klosterneuburg is not only important for the ALBERTINA Museum and its exhibition program, but also represents a significant addition to the museum's offerings for the province of Lower Austria and Austria as a cultural nation. No location is better suited for us than the former Essl Museum, whose architecture by Heinz Tesar was designed from the outset for mixed use as a depot and museum.
