Alpengarten Rax
Ukázková zahrada
Popis
At 1,644 meters above sea level, on the Rax plateau, you can take a leisurely break at the Ottohaus. But the Ottohaus is not only popular for its good food. Just below the refuge, hundreds of plant species grow that are not often seen in the wild.
3 reasons why a trip to the Alpengarten Rax is worthwhile:
- Around 200 plant species on 4,000m2: From alpine aster to wood anemone, the Rax Alpine Garden is home to native mountain plants that have now become rare. These include the edelweiss, which is a protected species.
- The gentian blossoms blue: very few people are lucky enough to discover a gentian by the wayside these days. The bright blue flower is nurtured and cared for in the Rax Alpine Garden.
- Refreshments: From the summit station of the Rax cable car, it's a 40-minute hike to the Ottohaus. After a tour of the alpine garden, you can fortify yourself for the return journey with hearty home cooking in the refuge - where Sigmund Freud was a regular guest in his day.
- View: Next to the alpine garden is the viewing platform at the Ottohaus, which offers a panoramic view of the Schwarzatal valley.
