Burgruine Rabenstein an der Pielach

Hrad, Zřícenina

Popis

At an altitude of 495 meters, the ruins are enthroned on the Schlossberg above Rabenstein and offer not only a fascinating insight into history, but also breathtaking views of the market town of Rabenstein an der Pielach. The ruins impress with their well-preserved remains, including a round gate tower and parts of the defensive wall that run through the wooded hillside. Hikers can explore the impressive architecture, including the chapel wing and the imposing Berchfrit. The forest nature trail on the way to the ruins offers informative knowledge about nature in the Pielach Valley.

The ruin was saved from decay thanks to the commitment of the ruin committee of the village renewal association and generous donations. In 1989, a committee was formed to save the Rabenstein ruins and has been working to preserve and safeguard this cultural heritage ever since.

Cultural events such as the "Weisenblasen" brass band in the fall also take place at the castle ruins every year.

Tip: Free ruins guides are available at the municipal office in Rabenstein, which provide interesting details and the exciting history of the Rabenstein castle ruins.
