The Donau-Warte stands on Braunsdorfer Berg near Krems-Egelsee with a view of the Danube valley over Krems, Rossatz and Dürnstein.
There is a lookout tower on the Braunsdorfer Berg (450 m above sea level) near Krems-Egelsee. The tower offers a magnificent view over the Danube valley into the Tulln basin. The town of Krems spreads out at the foot of the vineyards in front of it, and Göttweig Abbey can be seen to the south.
This lookout point can be reached by car through the Alauntal valley from Krems-Stein to Egelsee.
Access points:
-from Alauntal (near the bus stop), walking time approx. 30 minutes
-from Egelsee, parking facilities at the playground or in the village, easy hike, walking time approx. 20-30 minutes
-from Krems-Stein via the Steiner Kreuzberg, steep ascent (250 m), walking time: approx. 45 minutes
Circular route:
From the town center via the Kremser Kreuzbergstraße to the Kuhberg, on to Egelsee to the Donauwarte and back down the Waldviertler-Weitwanderweg to the starting point in Krems, walking time: approx. 3 hours
