Guckkastenmuseum Hardegg
Muzeum
Popis
The Guckkastenmuseum, a small museum of local history, got its name from the idea of the "Guckkasten", which allows visitors to look into the past: six historical photo presentations and two short video films can be viewed through four peepholes in a wooden cube.
The museum has been housed in a classroom of the former Hardegg elementary school since 2009. The school chronicle mentions the laying of the foundation stone in 1912.
Large-format informative wall panels invite visitors to read and look, while numerous exhibits illustrate the topics of rule, farmers, trade, the Iron Curtain, summer resorts, culture and the history of the nine cadastral communities (Felling, Hardegg, Heufurth, Mallersbach, Merkersdorf, Niederfladnitz, Riegersburg, Pleissing, Waschbach). In addition, there are occasional focuses on various anniversaries, such as the "School" focus in 2012/13 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary. In 2014, the Waldviertler Grenzlandkapelle of the municipality of Hardegg celebrated its 50th anniversary.
