Popis
Anyone who hears of the "Raxkönig" is referring to none other than Georg Hubmer - a 19th century visionary who opened up the Höllental valley for timber extraction. Around 1800, the former alluvial entrepreneur organized the transport of coal wood through the valley with the help of alluvial channels, timber and water giants, rakes and hermitages.
In his heyday, Hubmer employed up to 400 forest workers and rose to become the most important employer and benefactor of Naßwald. He financed both a school and a house of prayer and enjoyed a great reputation in the region.
Today, the Hubmer memorial in Naßwald - a district of Schwarzau im Gebirge - commemorates this extraordinary man and his work.
What visitors can expect:
- Woodcutter's hut with fireplace: on request, you can even cook sterz here as it was 200 years ago.
- History of timber transportation
- Historical tools

Summer highlight: Theater on the open-air stage
