Kalvarienberg in Kirchberg am Wechsel

The Calvary can be reached on foot from the village in half an hour. It was built after the outbreak of the plague in 1713/14. These are not the usual 14 Stations of the Cross, but chapels with realistic, almost life-size depictions of the mysteries of the Sorrowful Rosary. They also include the "Vacation Chapel" (Jesus takes leave of his mother) at the beginning, as well as the burial chapel at the end of the Calvary devotion. Processions take place during Holy Week.
