Kirche Zum Hl. Michael
Kostel
Popis
It is a church in its architectural beauty, simple, just as we all like it, in whose interior people find peace, contemplation and comfort in all their days.
Today's Orth parish church stands on the foundations of the old church, which was destroyed by the Turks. The altarpiece depicting St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of the church, was painted by Nepomuk Höfel in 1819 and was a gift from Countess Lipona, a sister of Napoleon. Between the two side altars, the coat of arms of Count Strattmann, to whom we also owe the onion shape of the tower, can be seen, probably whitewashed over. The two side altars are dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua and the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
The ceiling painting created by Hans Alexander Brunner in 1950 shows the apparition of Christ on Mount Tabor, the Virgin Mary ascending into heaven and the archangel Michael fighting evil
