Lavendelschaugarten Unterdürnbach

The unique ribbon amethyst deposit in Maissau was the cornerstone of the village design in Unterdürnbach. True to the motto "Maissau becomes purple", numerous green areas were planted with lavender. Lavender and amethyst are not only united by their typical color - with the various shades of purple - but also by their "healing" effect. Both have a calming and relaxing effect on the body.
For this reason, a lavender show garden was created in the lavender village of Unterdürnbach. The medicinal and fragrant plant adapts perfectly to the climate and soil conditions of the region. More than 100 different varieties of lavender are planted in the lavender show garden. The wide variety of flower shapes and the splendid colors in all shades of purple offer a unique sight, especially during the main flowering period from June to August. In addition to the different varieties of lavender, the show garden also features various companion plants such as roses, lavender thyme, lavender mint, lavender scented geranium, lavender willow, etc.
Near the lavender show garden, in the "Haltergraben", the "Lebens(bach)lauf" was created, which symbolizes the village community and the course of life. The family names of the villagers were placed in a natural or newly designed stream. A herb garden, a water lily garden and a show vineyard can also be visited on the way to the "Lebens(bach)lauf". The children's playground is also worth a visit.
