Popis

The special annual exhibition in 2022 entitled "The Fascination of Silhouettes & Josefine Allmayer and the House of Habsburg" will showcase over 300 original silhouettes by 21 different artists from Austria and abroad. The path from the idea to the finished work is also vividly illustrated by means of sketches, studies and drafts. Never before has such an extensive exhibition been shown in Austria! The exhibition can be viewed until 30.10.2022.

The Universal Museum Kierling offers its visitors around 3000 exhibits in 12 showrooms and in the outdoor area. Themuseum was founded in 1987 as a "local history museum" and has built up several independent collections over the course of its development, which justify the name "universal museum". Awarded the "Austrian Museum Seal of Quality", it houses the world's largest collection of silhouettes by Kierling-born artist Josefine Allmayer and her father and teacher Hans Allmayer, whose specialties included Vienna Woods motifs.

Also on display here is the unique gastronomy collection of the chef and former president of the Austrian Chefs' Association, Herbert Hüpfel, an extensive trade collection and a local history collection, which shows in particular the town of Kierling as a former Vienna Woods summer resort. The agricultural exhibits can be seen indoors and in the carriage house.

In the outdoor area is the "Wagenburg" with a large collection of large and small equipment from trade and agriculture. Special attractions are a feudal coffin and a wreath wagon, as well as the only mobile field oven from the monarchy (M1901) preserved in Austria.
