Naturwald in der Ysperklamm
Přírodní zážitek
Popis
The Ysperklamm gorge in the southern Waldviertel is a unique natural experience that combines wild water, untouched forests and impressive rock formations. While the Ysper plunges thunderously into the depths, a pristine natural forest with mighty beech trees and ancient deadwood unfolds all around - a rare insight into the state of the forests centuries ago. The Ysperklamm gorge has been a protected natural monument since 1952 and delights visitors with its clear streams, narrow gorges and impressive waterfalls.
The great Ysper has its source in the Weinsberg Forest and overcomes a height difference of around 300 meters in just two kilometers. The well-secured hiking trail leads over footbridges, steps and bridges along the roaring water. Old riverbank buildings are a reminder of times gone by when timber was transported across the gorge. Especially in the upper part, nature shows its wild side - with narrow rocky passages and spraying spray.
The starting point of the hike is the Forellenhof, from where the trail first leads to the idyllic Ödteich pond. The tour can be shortened as desired via the Rote Reithbrücke bridge, while the way back leads either along the forest path or the mysterious Druidenweg trail with its striking rock formations. The Ysperklamm gorge is around four kilometers long, takes about an hour and a half and offers a moderately difficult but refreshing hiking experience. Hikers can feel the power of the water, the scent of the forest and the silence of a nature that has found its way back to its origins.
