The Klein-Neusiedl paper mill - history with a new lease of life
The former paper factory in Klein-Neusiedl is an impressive example of early industrial architecture and an important cultural asset of the region. Built in 1795, it is one of the oldest surviving factory buildings in Lower Austria. Its location on the Fischa river was ideal for paper production, which characterised the economic life of the town for many decades.
The three-storey main building with its clearly structured façade and historic outbuildings is now a listed building and is a reminder of a time when craftsmanship and industrial development merged for the first time.
However, the paper mill is not just a silent witness to the past - it has developed into a lively place of exchange and encounter. With its unique character, it now offers a special setting for in-house variety theatre productions, concerts, cabaret evenings, private and company celebrations and cultural events.
