Worth seeing:
Pöggstall Castle - in 2017 it was the venue of the Lower Austria State Exhibition "Everything that is lawful" - houses a museum about legal history including the only "original" torture chamber and a documentation about the life and work of the artist Franz Traunfellner. Equally fascinating, the special exhibition "Pöggstall Castle - between region and imperial court" in the barbican tells of the eventful restoration, significant finds, and astonishing stories about the castle lords. A 3D animation illustrates how the bergfried or later castle grew from its original layout to its current form.
Besides Pöggstall Castle with its barbican (rondel), also worth seeing are the very old St. Anna Church in the field (1140), the parish church Pöggstall and the pilgrimage church in Neukirchen (1118) on the Ostrong, which as a pilgrimage church is older than Maria Taferl.
Leisure tips:
4 tennis courts, beach volleyball court, football field, a covered multisport facility, playgrounds, campsite, mountain bike and cycling routes, fishing and riding opportunities, Laas horse farm, Texas Longhorn Austria, Hotglass Atelier Faffelberger, Herb Farm Schrammel, Brand painting Josef Mitmasser.

You start from the starting point at the castle along the main street to the end of the town (direction Würnsdorf) where the Bachwiesenweg begins. The confluence of several flowing waters, interwoven with natural stream meadows as well as the pretty footbridges form the special attraction of the path, which can be used both as a cycling and walking path. Nature lovers can observe rare animal and plant species along the way. Several resting places invite you to linger. After about 1.5 km, a detour leads to Dietsam. At the end of the Bachwiesenweg in Würnsdorf begins the Kühhaltrunde, a forest path that mostly leads through the forest and returns to Pöggstall.
A1 to Melk exit - drive over the Danube on B3a and switch to B3 and drive to Weitenegg - here switch to B216 and drive to Eitental - drive on L7223 Seiterndorf and on L7226 to Pöggstall
