Krátký popis
Kaumberg – Hainfeld – Rohrbach – St. Veit – Hochreiter – Lilienfeld
Popis
From Kaumberg, you ascend to Araburg, where shortly after the castle the Vienna Pilgrimage Route branches off towards Rohr im Gebirge (via Unterberg). The Via Sacra leads over a scenic high route and through the forest down into the Gölsen Valley to Hainfeld (4:15 h). From Hainfeld, it goes through the forest to Rohrbach and then along the Gölsen to St. Veit, where you can visit the "Cathedral of the Gölsen Valley" (3:00 h). The proposed, spectacular mountain route leads with two ascents over the Hochreiter farm – Wiesenbach – Vordereben straight to Lilienfeld (4:30 h). A visit to the Cistercian Abbey Lilienfeld is worthwhile, which since the beginning of pilgrimage tradition has been an important stop on the Via Sacra and is the oldest medieval monastery complex in Austria.
Variant via Traisen: The historic and flatter variant runs in the valley and leads along the Gölsen Valley Cycle Path to Traisen, whose church "St. Johann an der Traisen" dates from the 12th century and is the oldest church in the Lilienfeld deanery. From Traisen, the route continues on the Traisen Valley Cycle Path past Marktl with its industrial companies to Lilienfeld (3:00 h from St. Veit).
