Popis

The life, work and environment of the Austrian composer Benedict Randhartinger are vividly presented in the ground-floor, barrier-free museum with interesting exhibits. Visitors also have the opportunity to get to know Randhartinger's beautiful romantic music in the museum. ORF short films complement the documentation.

Born on July 27, 1802 in Ruprechtshofen near Melk, Benedict Randhartinger was one of the most popular composers of the Biedermeier period, along with Schubert. He composed around 2,000 works, whereby his 820 songs and a large number of church compositions stand in the foreground. His music impresses with its distinctive melodies, compositional ideas and skillful orchestration. Rarities include Randhartinger's settings of dialect texts with classical piano accompaniment. Nowadays, his melodies can be heard not only in Austria, but also all over the world.
