Popis
The town hall, completed in 1559, is still at the center of public life. Its mighty tower, which should be understood as a deliberate counterpart to the church tower, and its imposing rows of arcades on the east and south sides, characterized by the spirit of the Renaissance, make it the second landmark of our market. Its image can be found on countless wine labels. As a result, it is known practically all over the world.
At the south-east corner of the town hall stands a five-meter-high pillory, one of the most impressive monuments to legal history in Lower Austria. It was erected in 1563 (date engraved) as the successor to a much simpler pillory.
