Urlingerwarte Blassenstein

Popis
The "Urlingerwarte" is enthroned high above the town on the 844 m high Blassenstein - the local mountain of Scheibbs. On August 26, 1888, a wooden lookout post was consecrated at this prominent point by Provost Paul Urlinger. It was erected by Josef Gattringer on the initiative of the then newly founded Scheibbs section of the Austrian Tourist Club. Urlinger was an enthusiastic mountaineer and was made the first honorary member of the section in the same year in recognition of his many services to the mountains.
As early as 1897, the control room, which was exposed to wind and weather, had to be closed again due to dilapidation. The ÖTK therefore decided to build a new viewing platform made of stone, which was opened in August 1903. In good weather conditions, the view extends north over the foothills of the Alps to the Waldviertel and south from the Ötscher to the Gesäuse.
The Urlingerwarte can be reached on various hiking routes from Scheibbs - a special tip is the "Quellenweg". Less sporty hikers can drive to the parking lot at the end of Blassensteinstraße - from there it's only a 15-minute walk to the hut. With good footwear, this short hike can also be completed in winter - when the sun shines, you will be rewarded with an incomparable view from the Alpine foothills to the Waldviertel, the foothills of the Alps and the Ötscher. The Warte is open from April to November.
